Federal authorities are investigating a September 15, 2024, incident involving an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. The suspect, armed with an AK-47-style rifle, was spotted near the fence of Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course. Secret Service agents opened fire, and the suspect fled but was later arrested. Fortunately, Trump, who was golfing at the time, remained unharmed.

This marks the second assassination attempt against Trump in two months, following an earlier incident at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Concerns over the former president’s safety have escalated, particularly during public events. Law enforcement found a rifle and other suspicious items at the scene, suggesting that the suspect intended to document the attack.

Trump’s security measures have been questioned due to his status as a former president, with Secret Service resources being more limited compared to when he held office. Despite this, the quick response of Secret Service agents likely averted a tragedy.
